Thanks for considering WebsiteSteward.
I’m Michael Blackledge, the Owner & Webmaster at WebsiteSteward. If you’re like me, maybe you’ve been working with WordPress for a long time. Or, maybe you’re a WordPress beginner and just learning how to use WP for your first blog or website. Regardless, I sincerely believe that WebsiteSteward can make running your nonprofit website a lot simpler.
Read on to learn why I started a WordPress support company for nonprofit organizations and how WebsiteSteward can help with your nonprofit’s website.
As a WordPress website owner, professional webmaster, and web developer, I’ve spent a lot of time perusing the Internet and collecting information about WordPress website management, WordPress maintenance, and WordPress optimization to enhance my knowledge. While I have found some really great WordPress support companies doing fantastic work, these were the exceptions. Generally, I read a lot of stories about website support companies going MIA and leaving their clients locked out of their website, or worse! I wanted to change all that while also specializing in supporting organizations that are making a difference in the world – specifically nonprofits and B-corporations.
I’ve been building websites since the ’90s. I love the web. I love websites. I am a member of the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and voting member of the Webby® Awards. Over the course of my 20+ year career as a software engineer and web developer, I worked on hundreds of interactive video games and websites. I’ve developed video games and software for Sony, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, and built websites for photographers, filmmakers, artists, and universities. As a Program Dean at The Los Angeles Film School, I was the principal creator of the first interactive entertainment degree program in Hollywood.
In 2012, I went looking for a more meaningful way to pursue my desire to help address the big global issues through social change, and headed to New York City to attend graduate school at The New School. There, I studied at the intersection of documentary media and technology and cultivated my passion for the Web and social impact. In 2015, I created a web agency that later morphed into WebsiteSteward, and built (and continue to build) websites and ventures aimed at environmental sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and social change. I am also the founder of Nuropals.org, a social platform for neruodivergent people, HikeSwap.com, a peer-to-peer used outdoor gear marketplace, and TelescopeTrader.com a peer-to-peer used astronomy equipment marketplace.
While anyone can benefit from WebsiteSteward’s WordPress website maintenance, website content updating, and SEO services, I especially enjoy working with nonprofit organizations aimed at helping solve the world’s global issues.
I’m looking forward to helping with your website.
